Why an Office Manager Is An Integral Part Of Your Office

I know Doctors are very intelligent and talented individuals who can do almost anything if they want. This never negates the fact that Batman needed Robin. In essence, work smarter, not harder. Finding someone you can rely on to help you execute your business plans is essential. There are many reasons why. I know you can do it all but, why? Let’s say that smarter is better than harder. Why not?  While you are diligently producing add an employee who manages the day to day things so you can focus on quality care of the patient. Now this may not be the quickest and easiest position to fill. Always take your time finding the right employee for you.  Once filled with the right person trust me, you will be grateful. I have worked with my boss for going on almost 12 years. Interestingly enough when I started the doctor I worked for needed someone to work administratively. I eagerly offered as it intrigued me. I quickly understood the importance of collecting what you produce.  A dental office is like a puzzle and if all the pieces aren’t there you can’t be successful.  I had no formal training with dental administrative work but knew with work I could figure it all out. I knew my years of Dental Assisting would be helpful. Before you knew it I learned I loved collecting the money. Yes, loved it!  Oh how I love working with the numbers.   We all have that special ability to love something others may not. Then when I learned more and more about claims I furthered my education through AADOM. Between my boss and all of my schedule I soon learned I loved leading, building, and helping her execute her business plans. Office Management is more than being …bossy!! It is multitasking at its very best. Helping build the business gave me such pride.  One minute you will be helping with customer service, the next you could be worried about a computer concern, next maybe one of the teammates called and they can’t come in. All in that same day you may have payroll and a teammate’s work anniversary. At the same time while walking around smiling as though mass chaos never hit you. I personally think it is cool to have a plan and make it happen. I tend to want to walk in when most would walk out. Seeing the vision when most don’t.  Find your Robin, trust me. You will get to have that vacation with less worries, you will smile to know you hired the best to stress less, someone who does the right thing even when you’re not looking. I want to change the word Office Manager or Practice Administrator to Leader Extraordinaire. I feel a spotlight needs to be put on those who normally withstand the heat. The ones who help the Dentist through this crazy time. I believe behind every great Dentist is an equally outstanding TEAM! Find team members to help make your dental dreams come true. Work smarter not harder, you will thank me.
